Thinning hair in females is starting to become frequent enough that it is now being labeled “female pattern hair loss”. This is a rather all-encompassing term because there are countless explanations that a woman can lose hair. Male hairloss has been easily explained for decades, having its foundation in the conduct of a set of hormones referred to as androgens. The androgens are testosterone, androsteinedione, and dihydrotestosterone and are also discovered in the woman’s body in smaller portions that in men. There are many things that can help make a woman lose her hair.

Androgenetic Alopecia.

This is the same circumstance that brings about male pattern baldness. In women, the hair getting thinner is spread all over the scalp, while in men there is usually a more distinct getting thinner in one spot of the scalp. Androgenetic alopecia takes place when testosterone is subjected to certain enzymes in hair cells and it is transformed into one of the other androgens, dihydrotestosterone (DHT). If too much of this DHT builds, the hair follicles get smaller and the growth cycle of the hair is altered. In females, lots of of the follicles essentially die and others become unable to make new hair.

Traction Alopecia

This kind of hair loss in females can be triggered by hairstyles like braids and ponytails that pull the hair too much across the scalp. This traumatizes the hair follicles enough to hamper hair growth. This condition can be corrected by altering the hairstyle to something much less restricting.

Telogen Effluvium.

The hair has three stages in what is known as the growth cycle: the growth phase, the resting phase, and the shedding phase. Right after the resting phase, the body sheds some hair so that new hair growth can happen. Telogen effluvium is a situation that takes place when the body has experienced something so physically distressing like giving birth, malnutrition, or a bad infection that most of the hair temporarily goes in to the shedding phase. This can continue several months to several years so long as the stress factors that caused it in the first place are present.

Anagen Effluvium.

This form of thinning hair happens when the hair follicles experience something that impedes its normal growth activity. A common illustration of this is chemotherapy, which can result in 90 percent of the hair to fall out.

Other Brings about of Woman’s Hair loss.

The most prevalent reason that women shed hair is due to change in the function of the thyroid brought on by menopause. Other considerations that can trigger hairloss are shifts in the levels of hormones, stress, certain medications, and heredity issues.

Where’s the fun in planning a wedding but falling short of putting your soul into it? Permit yours truly to shamelessly promote the Orvel family’s long wedding planning reputation. It could be if you’ve ever visited Chicagoland you’re already familiar; we hold a storied reputation for creating classic wedding events.

We eat, dream and sleep weddings. And we’re thankful to know plenty of wedding fashion designers, photographers and hair dressers. My little sister is a wildly-successful wedding singer songwriter and cellist (you’d have to hear it to believe it)! This week I have evaluated the creme de la creme of planners using a site for Chicago wedding resources. Obviously, yours truly was raised planning wedding planning. As a highly-sought after luxury wedding planner who loves her craft, I am delighted to be planning my own wedding with a little help from my colleagues. Did I mention that I am madly in love! Some say I’ve been knocked off my heels by love!

My luxury wedding cake vendor friend and I, are professional colleagues and best friends. She a little enthralled herself adorable Chris. A few days ago, we looked through the old video footage of her horrifically tacky Dallas wedding. It was funny, but trends evolve. There’s a moral about classical design in there somewhere.

I’m so excited for my wedding. His dad is actually taking care of all the reservations, and the ceremony will be at perhaps the tallest hotels! I really shouldn’t tell you specifics obviously who needs stalkers. It’s a fun time to be alive, celebrating love in style with those closest to us. We can all admit that’s what a luxury wedding is definitely about. Cheers to the spirit of living.

Cheers,

Denise

  • Just about everybody gets them…

    I had them just recently…

Yup, I had a serious case of the “poor me’s”, those down-in-the-dumps, pitiful, worthless feelings of failure and scarcity. I mean, I threw a full-blown pity party.

My web host went down, so no one could see my web pages. I couldn’t get my email. I couldn’t even get into the control panel to make sure I had a current list of subscribers for this newsletter…

Then, just to make sure I was good and miserable, I threw in a few “what-ifs”.

What if the database is gone forever?

What if I never build it back?

What if my business fails and I have to go looking for a J.O.B.?

What if I can’t find one?

What if we lose the house…?

By the time those poor-me’s and what-if’s got going, in my mind we were living in a cardboard box and it was all my fault…

Oh, how a good night’s sleep can change things. I got up the next morning, and started on my normal routine. Part of that routine is spending at least 30 minutes reading something good. Something that will contribute to, and serve, my vision and my dreams.

In this particular instance, the book was “Excuse Me, Your Life Is Waiting” by Lynn Grabhorn. The book talks about the Law of Attraction, that we get what we think and feel. And the Universe provided just the right cure.

Grabhorn outlined an exercise designed to make you feel good about money, and having it. If you can get the feeling of having plenty of money, you open yourself to attracting that money, and the money flows in. I’m going to give you the original exercise, and a variation I discovered.

    Here’s the original…

Take a $100 bill (or the biggest bill you can afford– don’t skimp) and put it in your wallet.

Now go shopping. If you can handle a full day, do it. Even a lunch hour at the mall will work. Just go someplace with lots of different stores.

Now wander from store to store, picking out things you’d like to buy with your $100. Don’t start making a list and figuring what you can get, just pick up individual items and tell yourself that you’d like that item and since you have the money in your pocket, you could buy it. Feel what it’s like to see something you like and know that you can have it.

If you’re diligent, by the end of the day you may have picked up at least 1,000 things. In your mind, you could have spent around $100,000, and it feels good. You have to be pretty prosperous to spend that much on shopping and feel good about it, right?

Hang on to the feeling, nurture it and bring it out as often as you can. What you are doing is sending these feel-good money vibrations into the Universe and opening yourself up to receiving money.

    Here’s my variation…

If you don’t have $100, or getting the bill is inconvenient, write yourself a $100 check and put it in your wallet. Then go shopping.

And if actually getting out to the stores is inconvenient, pick up a stack of catalogs or log onto the internet. I use catalogs because I still remember wearing out the “Wish Books” from Sears and Montgomery Wards at Christmas when I was a kid.

I page through the catalogs slowly, looking at the items and mentally “buy” anything that strikes my fancy that I could order with my hundred bucks.

I know this vibration stuff might sound kind of “airy-fairy”, and I’m not an airy-fairy kind of guy. I’m an engineer by education and training. One thing you learn as an engineer is that you do what it takes to get the job done, and this gets the job done.

    Want an example? OK…

This summer I wanted to take a long road trip, and cash is pretty tight. We’re making some improvements on the house and paying cash for them. So where was the money going to come from?

I didn’t worry about that, just started planning the trip. What route would I take? How long would it take me? Where would I stop, and who would I see? How would it feel to do things exactly as I wanted to do them on the trip?

Well, a couple of weeks into that routine, and the money fell out of the sky. I mean it came down in chunks…

Earlier this spring, we attended to some family business out of town and didn’t have room to haul everything back with us. So we stored the extra stuff with relatives and went back a month or so later to get it.

While there, we got caught in a hail storm. Chunks of ice the size of golf balls were bouncing off our car. After the storm, we were left with a cracked windshield and several dings in the sheet metal.

Long story short, the insurance company totalled out the car. We decided to keep it and take the settlement, which is paying for my road trip. A side benefit is that, because the car is totalled on the insurance company’s books, we no longer pay for collision insurance, so our car insurance bill will go down for as long as we keep the car…

    So just remember–

When the going gets tough, tough…

    Go shopping!

  • Proteins for Hair Growth

Protein and amino acids for hair growth

Many people ask me what proteins are most appropriate for hair growth. People with hair loss often turn to protein and amino acid supplements as part of their treatment regime. Although it is rare for a lack of protein to be a primary cause of hair loss, there is no harm in taking extra protein or amino acid supplements if you wish for your hair growth. If you take a blood test your serum total protein should be between 60-80 grams per liter. Less than this suggests a problem with protein intake. And you may take some of the protein supplements now available as either as powder protein supplements or liquid protein supplements. Soya bean protein is considered good for hair growth but take care not to take it in excess other wise it can have some negative affect.

    Amino acids and proteins

Much importance has been given to proteins for hair growth. Protein serves as the major structural component of all cells in the body, and functions as enzymes, in membranes, as transport carriers, and as some hormones. During digestion and absorption dietary proteins are broken down to amino acids which serve as the building blocks for formation of structural proteins and functional compounds of protein such as enzymes and pre cursors of hormones etc. There are 20 amino acids in all which are required for the synthesis of proteins.

    Proteins for hair growth

But out of which some of the amino acids cannot be synthesized by the body and are therefore are required to be taken as dietary amino acid supplements if you wish to take them to stimulate your hair growth. The amino acids: Phenylalanine, Valine, Tryptophan, Threonine, Isoleucine, Methionine, Histidine Arginine, Lysine Leucine are considered to be essential amino acids. But the distinction between essential and non-essential amino acids is not very clear, as some amino acids can be produced from others. For example the sulfur containing amino acids, methionine and homocysteine can be converted into each other but neither can be synthesized de novo in humans. Likewise, cysteine can be synthesized from homocysteine, but not otherwise. So, for convenience, sulfur-containing amino acids are sometimes considered a single pool of nutritionally-equivalent amino acids.

Hair follicles require a constant supply of amino acids via the blood stream to maintain hair growth. Hair follicles contain some of the fastest growing and dividing cells in the body so their energy, vitamin, mineral, and amino acid consumption is high. If amino acids are lacking, particularly the essential amino acids listed above, the hair follicles may be less able to produce hair fiber.

    Benefits of amino acids

A lack of amino acids in a first world country diet is very unusual and for the most part supplements are not required. However, everyone should ensure they have a healthy, balanced diet that provides all the amino acids required. There are many amino acids, but the nine amino acids which are known as essential amino acids must be provided in the diet and are indispensable amino acids which are required for both hair and other functions of the body. The body can make the other 11 amino acids needed to synthesize specific structures from the nine essential amino acids and carbohydrate precursors.

    Protein supplements

Proteins from animal sources, such as meat, poultry, fish, eggs, milk, cheese, and yogurt, provide all nine indispensable amino acids in adequate amounts and for this reason are considered “complete proteins”. Proteins from plants, legumes, grains, nuts, seeds, and vegetables tend to be deficient in one or more of the indispensable amino acids and are called ‘incomplete proteins’. Vegetarian and vegan diets may contain enough protein, but people following these diets may not be receiving all the essential amino acids if they do not pay attention to the type of protein they eat. Vegan diets adequate in total protein content can be “complete” by combining sources of incomplete proteins which lack different indispensable amino acids.

    Amino acid function for hair

In terms of hair fiber production, the most important amino acid is cysteine. Cysteine is the most common amino acid in hair. It is particularly important because it contains sulfur molecules. As part of a keratin protein chain, these sulfur molecules cross link with each other to produce disulfide bonds. These chemical bonds are what gives hair its strength. For this reason the most popular amino acid supplement taken for hair is cysteine.

Besides the proteins, nutritional diet vitamin supplements and safe herbal supplements are the best diet supplements for hair growth.

There are many nutritional herbal supplements which are good for hair care. Find out natural hair care products and secrets and some fast hair growth tips to take care of your hair the natural way.

  • Dress up the tree. Dress up the house. Dress up yourself. If you ever were afraid of passionate true red lips the holidays are the time to “jump in and test the water”. Red lips are perfect for holidays. There is something definitely passionate about red lips.

You will not be out of place this time of year when you adorn your lips with true red color. You may be amazed at the results. Just keep a few things in mind.

Use a lip liner first and if you would like the look to last the longest — don’t just outline, fill entire lip area with liner pencil before adding your favorite lipstick. Top off with a gloss for extra special look. Your shine will be brighter than the Christmas tree.

If you are highlighting your look with red lips then downplay the rest of your face. Your eye makeup should not compete. Still you can achieve a nice look with neutral colors which have a bit of shimmer.

You can quickly put the look together by first cleansing your face with a cleanser/toner in one product. Applying a moisturizer (with sunscreen for daytime). Apply foundation (matched to your skin tone) using a cosmetic sponge for even tone. Touch up uneven skin tones with a cover stick. Outline or fill lips with true red lip liner, then fill with lipstick. Cover entire eye area from lid to eyebrow from corner to corner with a light neutral color. Add a darker neutral color to lid area. Use separate darker color on outer edge of eye in a sideways > shape . One part of V will line the eye above lashes (halfway across) and other side of V should be in crease of lid. Smudge this V with q-tip. Use a matching darker or black eyeliner. Use mascara of choice. Use makeup brush to apply powder (matching skin tone) to finish and hold look. Brush with light, downward strokes. Brush your eyebrows upward and outward. Add a brow color lightly to define. You can add another layer of mascara now if desired. And gloss on lips if desired.

Don’t forget to add the holiday red look on your nails as well.

Keep your wardrobe simple when using red lipstick. Remember you are highlighting your face not elaborate prints nor fashion designs. Use accessories that draw attention to your face.
